FREDERIK MOLENSCHOT
Le célèbre artiste visuel néerlandais partage l’importance de prendre soin de soi et la façon dont le maintien d’un mode de vie équilibré alimente sa créativité et sa vision.
Joris Poggioli is a French-Italian architect and designer known for his sculptural approach to form and materiality. Since founding his practice in 2017, he has developed a distinctive design language that blends French elegance with Italian eccentricity. Drawing inspiration from his dual heritage, Poggioli’s work balances structure and freedom, resulting in timeless objects and spaces where design and sculpture converge. Recognized as part of the AD 100 best in architecture & design for four consecutive years, Poggioli continues to shape spaces and objects at the intersection of architecture, art, and function.

For Joris Poggioli, the act of creation is both disciplined and instinctive, a reflection of his belief that great design is born from a balance between structure and spontaneity.
In this interview, Poggioli discusses how self-care influences his practice, from finding moments of stillness to refining his creative process. He shares the rituals that sustain his inspiration and emphasizes the role of mental and physical well-being in his work, illustrating how his mindful approach translates daily life into sculptural, enduring design.
AS: What are some self-care practices that you find most benefit your work & creative output?
JP: I focus on simplicity, intentionality, and creating meaningful moments in my days. I make sure to leave space for escapism and idleness in my weeks—it’s crucial for stepping out of the box and fostering creativity.
AS: In what ways do you nurture your mental and emotional health to maintain creativity and inspiration?
JP: I try to stay as curious as possible, always seeking to discover new things. Curiosity keeps my mind open and my ideas fresh.
“TAKING ACTION IS THE ONLY WAY TO CREATE THE PATH AHEAD, NO MATTER HOW IMPERFECT” - Joris poggioli
AS: What practices or routines do you incorporate into your daily life to support your work while maintaining your creative energy and mental well-being?
JP: I have a set of rituals that ground me. Every morning, I meditate, open my shutters to let the light in—it’s essential for me. I light candles for warmth and ambiance, as well as incense or palo santo. I also try to stay active; exercising clears my mind and does wonders for my energy.

AS: How do you handle setbacks or challenges in your creative endeavors while still prioritizing your well-being?
JP: Mistakes are the greatest teachers, so I try to embrace them rather than reject them. Each setback is an opportunity to grow and refine my perspective.
AS: What specific environment or settings do you find especially conducive to both self-care and creative inspiration?
JP: I thrive in neutral, minimalist spaces. I find it challenging to be in colorful, overly busy environments. Simplicity allows my mind to wander and focus.

AS: Best self-care advice you have received?
JP: Gratitude. Every day, I take a moment to remember and relive the incredible moments in my life, to be thankful for them. It keeps me grounded and motivated. And then, most importantly, to take action. Doing is everything—it moves you forward, teaches you, and creates the path ahead, no matter how imperfect.
